Play and play signals

In the book Play, Stuart Brown describes the Properties of Play.  He writes that play is:

• Apparently purposeless (done for its own sake)

• Voluntary

• Inherent attraction

• Freedom from time

• Diminished consciousness of self

• Improvisational potential

• Continuation desire
